Macroeconomics and Public Finance

Citizens all around the world have become more critical concerning their Government’s expenditure, taxation and deficit policies, and the results of these policies in terms of sustainable economic growth and reduce poverty. They also expect from their Governments to be accountable and to deliver high-quality public services. Governments, international institutions and development partner countries are increasingly aware of the need to set-up efficient and workable macro-fiscal management arrangements and Public Finance Management (PFM) systems in order to cope with the increasing expectations of society.

Picture of Bulgarian parliament buildingECORYS has accumulated a wealth of macroeconomics and PFM expertise both in transition economies and developing countries. We have in-depth understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of macro-fiscal and PFM systems and we can offer solutions to specific problems. In the recent years we have successfully implemented large budget reform projects in Latvia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Russia.  This experience relies on, and in turn strengthens our thorough knowledge of the whole budget cycle, from macro and fiscal forecasting, budget preparation, budget execution to reporting and audit.
