17 May 2010 - A Dutch consortium lead by KuiperCompagnons and with Ecorys, DHV and Cushman & Wakefield have won a prestigious commission to prepare a master plan for the sustainable development of the investment region Khushkhera - Bhiwadi - Neemrana in India.

Over the coming six months we will develop an economically sound plan which does justice to the rich ecological, social and cultural values of this 200 km2 large area in Rajasthan. In order to build upon the economic growth of the adjoining Jaipur and Delhi regions the plan aims to create an attractive climate for investment for Indian as well as international companies.

The protection of agricultural areas and the development of renewable energy sources play an important role in the considerations which will lead up the plan. An effective management of the very scarce water stocks will be vital with the ambition that every raindrop will be caught and reused. Thus the consortium will devise a new, sustainable city with a scope of 40 to 50, km². This city will characterise itself by plentiful green, durable companies and as low as possible CO²-emission.

The investment region lies in the Delhi – Mumbai Industrial Corridor. The Indian government wants to give this so-called Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor, which runs through 6 states, a large economic stimulus; investing in infrastructure and industry is one mechanism in this process. The master plan is commissioned by Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited (DMICDC).  DMICDC has set objectives of doubling the employment, of tripling industrial production and of quadrupling the export within the next 5 years.
