6 December 2011 - On 15 december an Ecorys delegation will present its plans for supporting the Russian cities and regions that are preparing for the FIFA World Cup soccer which will be held in Russia in 2018. The way to succes, according to Ecorys experts, lies in multifunctional stadiums.

Ecorys is offering its support to hosting cities and regions on several levels:

• Developing an integral programme of preparing for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and of respective improvement of the spatial development plan;
• Drafting a detailed budget for the reconstruction/development of sports, transport, hotel and related facilities meeting the FIFA requirements;
• Developing an investment programme of development of city infrastructure – the programme will be balanced in terms of sources and schedule of financing;
• Assistance in the search of investors;
• Using best international practices to develop a model of multi-functional effective exploring of sport facilities including stadiums;
• Assistance in introducing project approach to provide for effective management and monitoring of the programme of preparing for the 2018 World Cup;
• Designing an optimal transport and logistics infrastructure tailored to the peak loading before and during the 2018 WC;
• Assessment of the impact of the programme of preparing for the 2018 WC on the social, economic and investment situation.
