Client: CNV Publieke zaken, FNV Abvakabo, BVPP (labour unions) On behalf of the collective labour unions, ECORYS reviewed the necessity of TNT’s announced cost savings and the associated implications for the labour conditions for mail men – either wages were to be cut by 15% of a couple of thousand mail men would face forced lay-off. The study showed that measures in the field of labour conditions were unavoidable to provide TNT with a sustainable future, although the size of the cost savings could be reduced and some alternative savings were present. Despite the study providing an alternative to the deadlock situation between labour unions and TNT, the members of the labour unions rejected any wage cut and opted to accept the forced lay-off.
