This study undertaken for European Commission (DG Enterprise) examined the role and impact of business services for promoting growth and productivity in the EU. The study provided an extensive review of the diverse literature on the interaction between business service providers and their clients/users. Through detailed statistical and econometric analysis, the study team produced new and original analyses to assess and quantify the relationship between business service use and growth and productivity performance. The reports analysis and conclusions provided suggestions and hypotheses for the development of appropriate public policy measures that were used as input to the EU Commission’s Communication on the Services Market.
