Project description: Study into the development of inland shipping in Flanders (Belgium) and the capacity limits that will be met on those waterways. ECORYS has analysed the bottlenecks with a self-constructed analysis model for locks. For individual locks, traffic data were analysed and sailing schemes assumed to assess waiting times and bottleneck periods. Also for each major sailing route forecasts were developed. Costs and benefits of investments in river port capacity were subsequently evaluated.
