The tasks under this project consisted of developing and reporting specific analysis (background reports) that were used by the European Commission as part of its annual publication  “European Competitiveness Report”. This report focuses on the analysis of indicators of structural determinants of competitiveness, combining theoretical with applied analysis of European competitiveness with attention given to sector-level (mesoeconomic) analyses. ECORYS-NEI’s most recent contributions have covered an analysis of the impact of the Asian economic crisis on European industry, the internationalisation of European services and the contribution of services to employment and productivity growth.
