The overall objective of the project is to support and enhance the absorption and development capacities, as well as increase the administrative capacity, in all 8 NUTS II regions in the Czech Republic. The project delivers direct technical assistance to the Czech Republic’s initiative to take on the obligations of membership of the EU in the area of regional policy and co-ordination of structural instruments for economic and social cohesion. The project’s outputs are a minimum of 10 projects per NUTS II region fully prepared for application of EU Structural Funds. The areas covered are Human Resource Development and Social Inclusion, Industry, Enterprise and Innovation and Regional Development.

One of the projects covers business incubators. The project supports the management of various business incubators in the Czech regions. Training is provided on marketing, management and finances through courses,
seminars and training on the job. In addition, the project supports the networking among the business incubators.

As part of the assignment, an assessment was made of the various bottlenecks in the area of technology transfer in the Czech Republic, including those of an institutional, legal and cultural nature. Results were shared with key players in technology transfer area in the Czech Republic.
