South Korea: Kyung In Canal feasibility study and masterplan PDF Print E-mail

Client: Korean Water Resources Corporation
Project description: Since more than a decade, plans exist to construct a navigable canal between the Yellow Sea and the Han River near Seoul, by expanding an existing tailrace. The goal is to alleviate road congestion by shifting some cargo flows (containers and bulk commodities) onto inland waterways. A Dutch-Korean consortium is performing a feasibility study of the Kyung In Canal (KIC) and writes a masterplan for the design and construction of KIC in combination with a new sea port. ECORYS is responsible for the cargo forecast, assessment of the potential market share of the KIC System by application of Logit Models and for the economic and financial feasibility.
