Support Activies to Strengthen European Integration Process for Turkey - Provision of Training on Instruments for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA).

The global objective of this assignment is to support the State Planning Organisation (SPO) in Turkey and other relevant Turkish institutions, in effectively executing their pre-accession roles and functions in the area of environment, transport, SMEs, health, education, energy and human resource development.

Under this assignment two types of training programmes were developed and delivered:

• Training programmes for the preparation of Operational Programmes and organised for: (i) related line ministries (SPO, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resource, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security), and (ii)  for various related public institutions, grouped into five technical areas. The courses aim to train at least a total of 140 staff in all target groups.
• Training programmes for project preparation, contracting, management, implementation and monitoring and evaluation in the field of Economic and Social Cohesion. These activities aim to train at least 160 trainees in relevant institutions grouped according to the four areas/headings namely Transport (Area 2), Environment (Area 3), SMEs, Health, Education, Energy (Area 4) and Human Resource Development (Area 5).
