Improving the economic analysis on users and services in the water sector as an integrated part of the Dobrogea Litoral hidographic basin Management Plan (Romania)

The overall goal of the project was to support Romania in the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC) (WFD). The project focused on the economic requirements of the WFD and the formulation of a complete water management plan, including an economic analysis. ECORYS provided a manual where the practical application of the WFD implementation by the River Basin Directorate (DADL) was used as a reference for other basins directorates in Romania. ECORYS strengthened the capacity at the National Authority of Water Management (NAAR) and DADL in the field of economic analyses and cost assessments - as required by the WFD. Furthermore ECORYS carried out an economic analysis for Dobrogea Littoral and additionally for other water directorates in Romania, and improved the coordination between policy makers and data managers in the field of data provision for economic analyses.
