Aim of the project SUGRE is to stimulate environment-friendly driving behaviour, and the use of alternative fuels and clean vehicles (from hybrid vehicles to electric traction). The project deals primarily with fleets of commercial companies like taxi companies, public transport operators or car rental companies.

The purpose of the project is to stimulate and support fleet operators to shift to a sustainable green fleet. This is in line with European and national policy objectives of a strong decrease in emissions in the transport sector.

The project is partly financed by the European Commission under the Intelligent Energy Europe programme. ECORYS is responsible for analysing the present use of alternative fuels in transport fleets, policy developments in this field and relevant technical and behavioural developments. In total 26 organisations from 18 European countries are participating.

An important participant from the Netherlands is the public transport operator Connexxion. The project consists of gathering existing knowledge, gained experiences and good examples, and disseminating these.
