A nationwide survey conducted at enterprises and research institutions, focused on their innovative potential. The project included analysing of statistical data describing issues of innovativeness and developing a methodology allowing for calculating the innovative potential indicator (with a focus on regional and sector distribution). An analysis of literature concerning the factors determining innovativeness was also conducted.

The research comprised the following components:

1. Presenting Poland against other EU countries;
2. Presenting factors which have an impact on the innovative potential of the regions;
3. Conducting a survey on the innovative potential of Research institutions - on the basis of questionnaires and the statistical material collected;
4. Conducting a survey on the innovative potential of enterprises – on the basis of questionnaires and the statistical material collected;
5. Carrying out case studies of innovative enterprises, including spin-offs and start-ups;
6. Developing a methodology and presenting innovative potential indicator values for Polish regions;
7. Developing a methodology and presenting innovative potential indicator values for different branches (sectors) of business - separately for the industry and services.
