Project description: The objective of the study was to develop a model which can explain the market share of the West European container ports for 50 West European regions as a function of explanatory variables such as inland transport costs, shipping costs and quality of services aspects such as transit time and frequency of service. The model used was a logit model and the parameters of the model were estimated with regression analysis. The tasks were: Collection of container traffic flows between 50 regions and 10 seaports; collection of the corresponding explanatory variables; and model calibration with regression analysis.
