During the previous decades a larger variety of life forms has arisen, women have become economically more independent and the adopted life courses of people vary more and more. However, specific groups are excluded from the most common aspects of life such as work, public transport or even education. In many parts of the world the emancipation of parts of the population such as women, minorities or disabled is not completed. Closely linked to these developments are issues such as the combination of work and family life, the insurance of new social risk, the identification of best practices for the integration of disabled or sick persons and the development of sound poverty reduction strategies.

ECORYS has reviewed social inclusion and poverty reduction strategies in many parts of the world and investigated best practices for global players or local governments.
