Inland shipping
A transport market with a high potential
Interest in inland waterway transport is growing. Already strong in the transport of bulk cargoes, in the last few decades, inland shipping has also become a serious alternative to road for container transport. In the future, pallet transport offers a further opportunity. The opening up of Eastern Europe and the completion of the Rhine – Main – Danube Canal has given further impetus to this mode of transport. There are favourable perspectives, especially for river-sea vessels that can penetrate far inland.
